Mineral insulated cables are all composed of inorganic substances (metal copper and magnesium oxide powder), which itself will not cause fire, it is impossible to burn or support combustion, because the melting point of copper is 1083 ºC, the mineral insulation layer is also above the melting point of 1000 ºC. Therefore, this kind of cable can continue to maintain power supply in the case of fire close to the melting point of copper, which is a true fireproof cable.
Since the actual normal use temperature of mineral insulated cables can reach 250 ºC, the IEC60702 stipulates that the continuous working temperature of mineral insulated cables is 105 ºC, which takes into account the needs of terminal sealing materials and safety. Even so, its current carrying capacity far exceeds that of other cables, because mineral insulation has better thermal conductivity than plastic, so the same working temperature and current carrying capacity are larger. For lines above 16mm2, one section can be reduced, and two sections can be reduced for places where people are not allowed to touch.
